MAKHACHKALA, June 17 – RIA "Dagestan". Acting Minister of Sports of Dagestan Sazhid Sazhidov held a meeting with coaches of the republican various age-group national freestyle wrestling teams and directors of Makhachkala sports schools. The event was also attended by 1996 Olympic Games winner Khadzhimurad Magomedov.
The well-known Dagestani athlete put forward a plan to foster freestyle wrestling in the capital of the republic. Magomedov's program focuses on drawing sponsorship support, making Makhachkala wrestlers more competitive, expanding the calendar of events and training the next generation of talented athletes. Sazhidov asked those present to support Magomedov's appointment as senior coach of the city's freestyle wrestling team.
"I have only one goal – to share my experience, contribute to the development of sports in Dagestan and support our wrestlers. I hope for your understanding and support" Magomedov said.
Problematic issues were also raised during the meeting. Honored Coach of Russia Anvar Magomedgadzhiev drew attention to the absence of an Olympic reserve school for freestyle wrestling in Makhachkala. Sazhidov reported that plans to open such an institution in Dagestani capital were under consideration.
